Bishop Jessie L. Britt, Jr. was called to preach in September 1998. He was ordained an Elder in October 2000, by Reverend Eric R. Lamb of Greater Christian Fellowship Church in Greensboro, N.C.
Bishop Britt is the son of Jessie and Eddie Britt, Sr. of Gates County, North Carolina. He is the eldest of four children. Bishop Britt came to Greensboro, NC to attend North Carolina A&T State University on a football scholarship in 1981.
He played in the NFL, 1986-1987, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but a knee injury ended his career. He later received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Education from North Carolina A&T.
Bishop Britt has always had a passion for helping people. After serving the city of Greensboro as a Police Officer for 3 years, he began working with children with behavioral and emotional needs in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. In September 2000, he began working for Youth Focus Mel-Burton School in Greensboro, NC, which is currently Alexander Youth Network.
In December 2000, Bishop Britt founded Follow Christ Fellowship Church. God gave Bishop Britt the vision to help youth excel educationally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. In 2004, he founded and is the Executive Director of Follow Me Mentor Center of Greensboro, NC.
Bishop Britt was consecrated to the Episcopal Office of Bishop on November 22, 2014, by Bishop Clarence R. Wall at World Victory International Christian Center in Greensboro, NC.
He married, the late, Pastor Cynthia Diane Britt in August 1999 and they were blessed to have 3 wonderful children: Jessica, Ed, and Dominick (Taesia). Bishop Britt’s greatest passion is “Doing His Father’s Will,” by becoming a builder of God’s people.
